JANSEN VALK THOMPSON & REAHM PC is a progressive accounting firm which was established in 1994. Since that time the firm has grown to become one of the largest local firms in Kalamazoo, Michigan. We are proud of the level of expertise and experience our firm has to offer.

JANSEN VALK THOMPSON & REAHM PC spun-off from Ernst &Young LLP on August 1, 1994. As part of that spin-off, E&Y transferred the opportunity to serve certain clients to Bob Jansen, then a partner with the E&Y firm. Bob started the firm with a core of experienced E&Y professionals who joined him as part of the spin-off.

In 1994, the firm’s founding Principals included CPAs Robert L. Jansen and James R. Valk. In October 1998, Nancy L. Thompson, CPA joined the firm and in September 2000 Richard C. Reahm, CPA joined the firm, both as Principals.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

The Principals and staff of JVTR believe in community service and consistently assume leadership roles in local organizations. These organizations include United Way, Junior Achievement, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Family and Children Services, YMCA, Ministry with Community, Pretty Lake Vacation Camp, local churches and others. In addition, the firm has had a representative on the Western Michigan University Department of Accounting Advisory Council since its inception in the mid 90s. Annually, the firm participates in the local Adopt-a-Family program by purchasing holiday gifts for children who would otherwise go without.

In addition to these activities, JVTR sponsors an annual WMU scholarship for a needy student who shows academic promise in the accounting curriculum.

JANSEN VALK THOMPSON & REAHM PC is a member of PCPS/The AICPA Alliance for CPA Firms, a division of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). As a member of the division, we are peer-reviewed by other CPAs who then render a report on the results of that review. We received an unqualified peer review report for our most recent peer review completed in 2005. Our previous peer reviews were similarly unqualified and were completed in 1995, 1998 and 2001.

DIRECTIONS TO OUR OFFICE

We are located on the corner of Crosstown Parkway and South Westnedge, about one mile south of downtown Kalamazoo.

From the North

Exit Hwy 131 to Business 131 and take Business 131 into downtown Kalamazoo. Continue south on Westnedge to Crosstown Parkway (Paris Cleaners on the right). Turn right on Crosstown Parkway and then left into the parking lot of our building—555 West Crosstown Parkway, Suite 101.

From the South and East

Exit Hwy 94 on the Westnedge North exit and take Westnedge north past several businesses and into and out of a residential area. At the top of Westnedge hill the road becomes a one-way and then Park Street. Take Park Street down the hill to Crosstown Parkway (National City Bank branch on the left) and turn west (left) on Crosstown Parkway. Take Crosstown Parkway through the next intersection (Westnedge) and turn left into the parking lot of the building—555 West Crosstown Parkway, Suite 101.

From the West

Exit Hwy 131 to Stadium Drive and take Stadium Drive past several car dealers and through several stoplights to Howard Street (Kalamazoo Christian High School on the right). Turn right onto Howard Street, and take Howard Street up the hill, over Oakland Drive, and down the hill to Crosstown Parkway. Turn left on Crosstown Parkway and right into the parking lot of the building—555 West Crosstown Parkway, Suite 101.
